Building Relationships
Last night we had dinner with one of John David's new co-workers and his family. We enjoyed sharing a meal with them and getting to know their family. As I was talking to his wife she said something I have thought of often, "you don't really get to know the people you go to church with until you visit with them outside of church." This is something I have often thought of too! When we go to someone's home or they come to our home we are in a relaxed atmosphere and it is there that you are really able to start building a relationship that is more than talking over prayer requests in Small Group. We are thankful that we are in a church that encourages out of church gatherings because at our church we "do life together," and isn't that something every church and every Christian should strive for, "do life together," not just "do church together?"

I love that! Do life together!
I definitely agree. Even our "get togethers" as Christians tend to be so superficial. You really get to know somebody when you work along side of them, toward a common goal. True fellowship is two people on the same side of a struggle.
So true... I needed to hear this. I am dragging my feet on getting involved at church. We've been there for 6 months. It's time. It's hard with a 9 month old, but I don't think it will ever be easy!

I agree, you can have great fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ at church, but you really don't get to know them well until you see them on a more relaxed setting. I love having company over, it's a great outreach to everyone around us!

I very much agree. My husband and I have found we have the closest friendships and relationship with the people we gather with the most.
One of the things that binds us closer together is the love to share the gospel. My husband and his friends go out regularly to share the gospel, and they also meet for lunch during the weekdays to discuss spiritual topics and life in general through a biblical view.
Us wives simulary, although we don't get to go out and share the gospel often, we get together and talk about biblical stuff, and it is so much fun!! :D I love true fellowship, I really do ! :D
