The Beautiful Rocking Chair

John David gave me one of my Christmas presents on Friday, December 14! It is something that he couldn't have hidden from me in a closet or a corner so he had to give it to me! He let me sleep in and went and got it and when I woke up I went in the living room and there was my beautiful rocking chair! It was so exciting!

Every time we go to antique and thrift stores, I look at rocking chairs. I always ask if I can have one but John David always tells me we don't have any room for a rocking chair! So it was a complete surprise that he actually bought me a rocking chair.

The chair is made in Woodbury Tennessee and is called the Woods of Tennessee. This particular chair has 10 different types of wood in it. White Ash, Osage Orange, Red Cedar, Black Walnut, White Hickory, Wormy Maple, Wild Cherry, Red Oak, Poplar, and White Oak. He got it from Putnam Farmers Cooperative here in Cookeville.

After our early "Christmas morning" we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, which was a nice breakfast date!!

My beautiful chair, I love the black walnut arms and front posts!

The best husband ever and me with my beautiful rocker!!

My Christmas Rocking Chair

This morning John David surprised me with a rocking chair! It was a great morning and a Christmas present I will always remember!

I had just gotten out of bed...that's why I have on my tractor pj's and glasses!! I am glad though because it was such a surprise to know that he caught my real reaction on film!!

It's Christmastime!

I am getting so excited about Christmas! This week is the last week of class and finals are next week, we are both very excited about the semester being over and enjoying our Christmas Break!

Yesterday Kara gave me a beautiful wreath that she made to adorn my door! It is so pretty and very special since she made it!

In the festive holiday spirit I have been wearing Christmas pajamas and today I wore my snowman socks! Tonight we went to Wal-Mart and bought egg nog for the holidays and of course I am listening to Christmas music now (which I have been listening to since mid-October and I can do it "out loud" now since it is December!)

John David also helped me decorate my MacBook for Christmas, we put Christmas lights on the top and found an application which "snows" so I get to watch beautiful snowflakes! Here is a picture of my computer!

O Christmas Tree!

This evening after I finished with a school assignment, John David picked me up and we headed to the Dollar Tree for miniature lights for our Christmas tree. We found a cute package of mini lights and after walking around the store we came out with dried pineapples and bananas, salt and vinegar chips, and thin mints (a holiday treat!) We came home and I proudly put lights on our tree! The tree is a small cedar, I decided we had to have a Christmas tree (it wouldn't be Christmas without one!) Since live trees are better than artificial ones, I thought it would be wonderful to have a tiny tree! We went to the Tech farm and I found this little one growing along a fence row, so I gently cut it down with John David's massive gerber saw and we brought it home and placed it in a mason jar! So now our little apartment home has its own little tree!

A year and a half

Today we are celebrating our year and a half wedding anniversary! It really is not hard to believe that we have been married that long, it seems like we have been together forever and we know that we definitely belong together. We don't have any big celebration plans except going to look for mini lights for our miniature live Christmas tree!
